Guide to the vicinity

The Science Museum is located in Kitanomaru Park, adjacent to the Imperial Palace in the heart of Tokyo, and surrounded by abundant foliage. “Kitanomaru” literally means “northern area” and as the name suggests the museum stands on the remains of the northern area of Edo Castle, and contains relics of the castle, some of which have been designated as important cultural properties.

The park is also home to famous tourist spots such as the Nippon Budokan, the sacred home of Japanese martial arts, The National Archives of Japan, and the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo and its Crafts Gallery. It is located around 300 meters from Kitahanebashimon Gate, one of the old entrances to Kokyogaien National Garden.
